The most lively in all the little societies in Bedfordshire
was preacher John Wesley's description of Cople on his visit in 1766.
Today he would have little change to report with the introduction
of
Thomas and Arati Kilroy
who have recently taken over at the helm of The Five Bells.
Set in the heart of Cople, this tavern has always been popular
with the locals however the pub's appeal has soared recently with an
extensive refurbishment of the lounge and dining rooms and
the introduction of all-day opening hours together
with a menu of dishes by
Chef Patron Thomas available everyday.
"
Overseeing the cellar is the chef's father
Tom Kilroy (who together with Mary owned The Bedford Irish Club).
As a real ale enthusiast Tom works at the art of conditioning the Cask Marque-Accredited Greene King IPA and Seasonal Guest Ales
on tap and has introduced Bottle Conditioned Ales which Thomas has paired up with his food, along with a range of fine wines and champagnes.
